N for Nameri

The river looking so serene
In the District of Sonitpur, Nameri is the third National Park of Assam and it is also the core area of Nameri Tiger Reserve (344 Sq. Km.). One can enjoy rafting in the Jia Bhoroli river in the south-western boundary. Nameri National Park, located in the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas, straddles the border between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. The Pakhui (Pakke) Sanctuary of Arunachal Pradesh adjoins the Park on its North-Eastern point. The area is criss-crossed by the river Jia- Bhoroli and its tributaries namely the Diji, Dinai, Doigurung, Nameri, Dikorai, Kharietc. Nameri is also known as the last house of the white winged Wood Duck.

I have been to Nameri in the year 2009. I was a student of Tezpur University then and our department went on a picnic to Nameri. It was a day long affair. I am sharing some pics of the day below:

Crossing the river
In the middle of the forest
Through the forest
A white winged wood duck (not from the picnic)
Elephant footprints
A baby
A mood of the river

Waiting for lunch
That's 2009 me!
I am taking part in the Blogging From A to Z Challenge [April 2014].
